More green Crisplant sorters

More sectors choose green Crisplant sorters to support cost-down initiatives in high-speed automated handling.

  • Innovative technology adopted by major projects in the air passenger transport, warehousing, post and parcel distribution sectors.
  • State-of-the-art sorters support cost-down and green initiatives.
  • New drive technology reduces operating costs, energy costs and carbon dioxide emissions.
  • Up to 75% lower energy consumption than sorters with conventional drive technology.

Crisplant – a leading global supplier of automated baggage handling systems – announce that major projects in the airport, warehousing, parcel distribution and postal sectors are installing innovative Crisplant sorters to support cost-down initiatives and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Crisplant Managing Director, Ranjit Bhabra, explained; “The Linear Synchronous Motor technology, introduced in the LS-4000 sorters, provides customers with a win-win situation: the sorter requires ultra-low maintenance overheads and also cuts energy consumption by up to 75% compared to sorters using conventional drive technology. This dramatically reduced energy consumption cuts energy costs, as well as carbon dioxide emissions, to support both cost-down and green initiatives.”

Lately, the technology has been installed and proven across several key industries: In the mail-order and e-commerce sector, fashion giant Joseph Witt GmbH has installed both the cross-belt and tilt-tray versions of the LS-4000 sorter as part of a new 30 million euro distribution centre; in the air passenger transport sector, the LS-4000E is providing
high-speed baggage-handling in the new International Terminal at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport; whilst in post and parcel distribution, the Norwegian postal service, Posten Norge, and major parcel distribution companies, Toll Post Globe and TNT’s Pakketservice have all also chosen the LS-4000 sorter for new high-speed sorting systems.

The LS-4000 sorters are the first to incorporate innovative Linear Synchronous Motor (LSM) technology. The sorter series also introduces a common installation and technology platform focusing on a space-saving design providing valuable extra room above the sorter and on the floor to maximise the use of space. In new-build projects, this combines high efficiency within a compact footprint, whilst existing systems can increase throughput without the need to invest in additional floor-space. Increased productivity and efficiency, a safer working environment for staff and actively reducing carbon dioxide emissions from daily operations were among the reasons these well-known companies chose Crisplant’s LS-4000 sorting solution.

Ranjit Bhabra, concludes; “The energy consumption and handling efficiencies provided by the LS-4000 sorters means that any sector which requires high-speed sorting could drive cost-down and green initiatives with this new technology.”
